Summit Steel Buildings opens new sales and service office to strengthen Ontario presence

Frank Melo • August 12, 2025

Thorndale, Ontario, August 7, 2025 Summit Steel Buildings has marked a significant milestone with the unveiling of its new sales and administration office for the Ontario region. The 600 square foot workspace adjacent to an executive meeting room is located just outside London and serves to bolster construction and client operations while significantly expanding regional representation.

The sales and administration office is located on the second floor in the FCMP Outdoor manufacturing facility in Thorndale, which Summit Steel Buildings constructed in 2017. The client’s ownership was so satisfied with the quality of the initial structure that they rehired the company for expansion work. FCMP Outdoor business had grown considerably throughout the United States using Amazon distribution and it required two further extensions using Summit’s pre-engineered, open-ended building system.

The strategic establishment of an Ontario office further solidifies Summit Steel Buildings’ long-standing commitment to Central Canada and the broader national business landscape. The company is actively strengthening its collaborative network with commercial and industrial enterprises, which need additional storage or production space. Pre-engineered steel buildings are ideal for food and technology manufacturing, warehousing, mining, aviation   and aerospace. Among other uses, metal structures have become a very cost-effective building solution for community centres and recreational sports (such as for golf, skiing, hockey arenas, pool facilities and indoor soccer fields).

Frank Melo, Director for Summit Steel Buildings, grew up in West Lorne and called London home until moving to Vancouver in 2019 to establish the company’s head office. Before founding the company with his business partners, Frank successfully ran Melo General Constriction (which specialized in residential construction and commercial steel building installation) for 24 years between 1996 and 2019. The lifelong relationships he established during the time helped propel the growth of his new company throughout Canada and the U.S. due to his reputation for quality craftsmanship, reliability and business acumen. Being back in London will serve to further develop commercial and industrial opportunities in the Ontario market.

“The expansion of our footprint in Ontario underscores the strategic importance of the province in our national and global operations. This new workspace represents a significant investment and a clear demonstration of our enduring commitment to local business and developing regional leadership in domestic enterprise,” Frank says. “By returning to my roots and deepening the existing relationships we have here, we are proactively addressing the evolving demands of the Ontario commercial and industrial building market. We hope to play a small role by actively contributing to the economic strength and vitality of the region.”
